“A predominant factor that prevents today’s man from progressing spiritually is the spirit of the flesh, our bodily desires. Isn’t that how it is? This is a general struggle for all people. Of course, in the spiritual life, for the flesh to submit to the spirit, a certain struggle is necessary. Some provisions are necessary, and these provisions our Church grants us abundantly. They are the Holy Mysteries. It is Christ Himself who helps young and old to recognize him, believe in Him, love Him, and worship Him. Christ especially enables our young people to say ‘no’ to the desires of the flesh, ‘no’ to the world, and ‘no’ to the devil and his daily traps in a demon-held society. The frequent participation in the Holy Mysteries will aid in the development of spiritual antibodies, thwarting temptation and sin.”
